Top 10 tips I’ve learnt from 20 years of weddings
The big plans matter. So do breakfast, comfortable shoes and knowing who has the bags. Here are ten things I’d put near the top…

The Wedding Toolkit · 20 years of wedding experience
Twenty years of experience with weddings. A practical perspective on the whole day.
The Wedding Toolkit draws on Stephen Holdstock’s 20 years of experience with weddings, including work behind the camera through YourStory Video.
Working behind the camera means paying attention to more than the pictures. It means understanding how the day flows, how people feel and how practical decisions affect the time you have together.

A wedding morning can fill up quickly. Give yourselves time to get ready, eat something and enjoy the people around you. A few clear plans beforehand leave more room for those moments you cannot put on a schedule.

Think about the journey between the moments, too. Who needs to be where, how long does the walk take, and who can answer a supplier’s question while you are getting married? Sharing the practical details lets your helpers help, without every decision coming back to you.

Leave a little space for just the two of you. Talk through your plans with your photographer and videographer, including the photos that matter and the time you want with your guests. A useful day plan supports the celebration, with room for it to unfold naturally.
That is the starting point for these resources: clear planning prompts, useful lists and advice that leaves room for your priorities. A big celebration, a small gathering, familiar traditions or something completely your own.
Our first sections cover budgeting, packing, practical backup plans and the flow of your day. We’ll build on these with tools and articles that have been reviewed before publication.

I made The Wedding Toolkit to bring the useful little things together. My hope is that it helps you feel prepared, gives the people around you a clear plan, and leaves you free to enjoy the day you have made your own.
